Through my company Alpacus I take on a small number of engagements next to my role at kaiko.ai. Two kinds of work fit well:
Early-stage product & discovery consulting
You have an idea, often involving AI, often in healthcare, and the expensive question is not how to build it but whether and what to build. I help teams sharpen the problem, find the riskiest assumptions, and design the cheapest way to test them before committing an engineering budget. Ten years of taking deep learning from architecture design to clinical deployment means I've seen where these projects die, and it's rarely in the model.
Freelance engineering
Hands-on machine learning and software engineering: training and evaluating deep learning models, computational pathology pipelines, whole-slide imaging tooling, and pragmatic infrastructure to run it all. I build things that survive contact with production.
